summer slide

so ya, i’ll tell ya. 88boadrum tomorrow.leaving for rome soon.i’m waiting for my life to change. 

went and saw sonic youth and the feelies for the fourth yesterday, which was very enjoyable. join twitter and let me know yr username. i’m working on a summer mix (tape) and it’s going to be good. evolving naturally. summer is my favorite. i will enjoy being lost soon.

I have also grown tired of getting jerked around by people trying to take advantage of me. People continue to amaze and dissappoint me with their rudeness and disrespect.

Been working remotely on my parent’s website all day using Fugu, which is pretty fun overall and makes life a lot easier. moved into my new place in west philly, which has an air conditioner and a window-bench thing where i can sit and watch people by the street. despite there being 12 bedrooms in this house, i’m pretty sure only 2 other people will be living here for the summer.  best fest was also very nice. show at pifas tonight maybe. summer is nice.

schools done! i just need to go to tyler one day this week to reclaim my printmaking screens and bring home some artwork and return my library books.

i hope not to make mistakes in choosing my surroundings again, to devalue the importance of sunlight. i’m learning to trash. clear spaces clear minds.

so, here is my new haircut. warning to anyone in philadelphia: i strongly recommend you never ever go to chop shop. that being said, this is my hair after my second, damage-control haircut which turned out very nicely i think.

excited that summer is so soon. built a 4-frequency icosahedron which turned out pretty cool. tomorrow i am silk screening my final, which is tentatively an awesome, mailable gift for friends. (MAILABLE!!) if so, i don’t wanna spoil the surprise.

after that, i’m so close to done. chem final on thursday, math final the monday following. other than that i just need to post my vids to the tyler video blog! ( TYLERVIDEO.BLOGSPOT.COM )

now i’m at my house for the first time in a while, gonna work on my print final some and maybe clean up a bit. i’ve been taking some photos on a disposable camera which is almost full, so maybe i’ll develop that soon. now that summer’s practically here, i’ll have much more time for things of that nature.

i also discovered on my camera today some old john shade pictures from jamnesty, so might flickr some of em.

well. yesterday was a considerably bad day, but i’m not gonna make a huge deal of it. my car window got smashed in outside of phil’s house in west philly. then my final video project got all error-ed up and won’t let me open it so i had to start over. i also had 10 drawing/paintings due today, but i got those done, and i switched with kristen so that i can present my video tomorrow instead of today.  summer is getting really close. today the cafeteria dude in starving artist hooked me up. all of a sudden the other day he started being really nice to me, and offered to fix me up some of the better vegetarian food that they have, so today he made me some veg crab cakes and these meatball/falafel things. the crab cakes were good, and he gave it to me for free which is real nice. he said if i come back tomorrow he has something else for me to try.it’s things like that that make it kind of weird that i’m going to be leaving for rome for next year. these last few days are the last times i’m going to be at tyler campus, because we’ll be in the new building by the time i return from rome.i have lots of ideas for the summer. some of them include music, video, music and videos on the internet, art, more art, naps, letters, bicycles, radio, books. some configuration of all those things squished up nicely. oh and working. i would like to update my website soon. i’ve started redesigning it but i need to photograph my new artwork too. hopefully soon.  

i have, as a general statement, been more concerned with physical reality than with internet reality, and, as a result, haven’t really been on the net much. i’ve been taking things kind of slow, and just living life as it comes. which is kind of a releif.

i recommend the book “eastern wisdom, modern life” by alan watts.

summer is coming soon. i’ve been imagining a redo of this site, so it might start to exist, but who knows.  boredoms was really awesome on wednesday, but you already know that. anticipating dirty projectors/man man and then explosions in the sky next week.

i also got accepted to study abroad in rome next year, so i’m goinnnnnn. i’m not really that energized right now, probably the lowest excitement level of the past few weeks. just kind of tired from not sleeping a lot, and the mellow rainy weather.

i’m not really sure where i’m gonna be going with my video final. i haven’t blogged in a really long time. (the video show turned out well. people responded well to my installation.) i had a nice time at the benefit for pedal coop at space 1026 last week. i think i need a change of pace. once school ends, things will be better. also i need to find a summer job.

i’ve been thinking about the universe a lot too. and the future. in an abstract way. this diction doesn’t suit me. FUCK YALL. i am just not in the mood for this.

DJ Scotch Egg was seriously awesome. it was his first show in the states and it was definitely a good time. i talked to him after his set and he was a really nice dude. he had an awesome lobster toy too. friends!!! check him out, HIT IT ON THE MSPACE.  

other things that have been awesome… seeing ecstatic sunshine and parts and labor at the new danger danger gallery on monday. really anticipating break!!! hopefully i will get to see erik too, and all my lovies. i also plan on going to see the star wars exhibit with phil, and be kind rewind. and eating lots of popcorn. and working on my sick vid installation. HEADSUP: thursday the 20th, 7-8:30 = OPENING FOR VIDEO SHOW. save the date. i know it’s at tyler but it’ll be cool and there will be snax!!!!

 i am wearing many crazy clothing items and listening to venetian snares and generally going nuts in video class right now. last night was just so fun. i met brian from drums like machine guns last night, and one of the drummers from ugh god who ACTUALLY goes to tyler which i just discovered this morning. jack and i also had practice yesterday and worked on some new songs. there’s a new one about party lesbians, kissinnnn for the camera.

guess this is no news for anyone in philly, but for everyone else on the internets: my hair is getting kind of long!! eep. i think i’m gonna keep growing it and see how it goess.

no big upd’s, about to head of to w.philly to see phil.. i think i could be gettin sick, so i’m taking lots of vit. c and hopefully i’ll be ok. all my friends are getting sicks, feel better guys! um um um ok, bye.

entry a little overdue. blogging and fun could maybe be considered inversely proportional, and in that case, i was having too much fun to blog. or something.

i had a nice weekend, enjoyed some yummy meals with happy people, talktalked a lot, and had some partydancing in the mix too. i guess MAJOR happenings worth commenting on would be that we recorded on saturday, which was pretty fun. i also checked out the ICA this weekend and was very pleased with what i found, the puppet show was really awesome, i loved watching all the videos.. the kara walker one was especially interesting. i ALSO am really jazzed about the installation in the ramp area, which has SO many cool books and zines just waiting to be read!! i am thinking of going back on sunday to read some more of them.

on monday i was able to drop the releif/etching survey and add video workshop, which immediately made my life a whole lot better. i’m enjoying serigraphy a lot, it’s so fun. it’s really nice having my own screen, too. right now i’m making a six-color print, i’ll post pictures when it’s done. i also found my old prints from last semester that i thought somebody stole! they magically reappeared in the print studio, thank goodness. so now i can fix em up. drawing class is also the bomb diggety, i made a really cool drawing for my immersed self portrait that i should really photograph. this afternoon i need to do my homework, which is gonna be blind contour craziness of my messy messy room.

the mice problem has been a little less terrible, we even got glue traps and put one out last night and didn’t catch a single mouse. i think it might have something to do with the warmer weather. i also think that a mouse died in the wall between our house and the neighbors house, since it smells kind of funky when you are walking down the stairs to the basement, and only in one spot. but that’s kinda grosssss4blogginz.

oh and i’m listening to the new cat power, jazzed about the show on friday and amanda’s animalparty. weekends, oh oh oh i miss you. ok guyz, today is my day off and i don’t wanna waste it!
